Meet your protagonists!
First up, the deceivingly cute girl Ruby. She's eight years old and enjoys nothing more than adventuring with her toy bear through the strange regions of her imagination. In fact, she doesn't enjoy much else. She's developed a healthy disdain for most other people and creatures and in her waking life she would be described as sullen and perhaps even troubled. However, safely inside her dream world with her best friend, she's in her element. She is excitable and mischievous and enjoys annoying other creatures. But if anyone dares to annoys her [and she is easily annoyed] she will think nothing of annihilating them in a variety of sadistic ways. Like all children she has mood-swings, tantrums, bouts of hyperactivity and worries and fears. These are reflected in the dream and nightmare minigames that you must explore.
Her long-suffering best friend, Lloyd, has much in common with her despite being a stuffed toy. He too hates being bothered and has no interest in anyone but himself and the girl to whom he is fiercely loyal. However, he's overweight and a good thirty years older than she is and so most of the time just can't be bothered to go on adventures. Actually he can't be bothered to engage in anything more strenuous than sitting around playing computer games, drinking coffee or eating junk food really, and these relaxing times are when you're most likely to catch him with a smile on his face. But he is still her loyal toy, and he doesn't want to see her come to any harm. Thus, begrudgingly, he follows her around and invariably comes off the worst in their adventures (which his charming little friend finds hilarious of course).
Together they make an interesting pair...
